Mortify
Romans 8:13 for if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
The first thing we must under stand is “Mortify” ( to kill (literally or figuratively):--become dead, (cause to be) put to death, kill.) so hear we are talking about the “Figuratively”. Killing the “Old” Man so that the new man may live, now when we lived in sin for so long that Old man does not want to die so easily.
I remember my Grandmother & Aunt when they were killing Chickens, witching them running around Trying to keep alive even with there heads off . We are like the chicken even when we are dead to Sin sometimes it does not want to die so easily.
But we must look at the first part of what Paul was saying, “If we Through the Spirit” for on our own we can do Nothing it is only by the Spirit that we are able to Kill off the Old man and his ways. Matthew 5:29 and if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Now Jesus was not saying that if you are looking at that Woman walking down the street to cut your eye out, No No he is saying that by the Spirit you can turn your head away and Not look, or be affected by it as you use to be. For that would be something that the old man (Sinful Man) would do.
In Philippians 4:13 Paul says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Hear again we must first see that only by Jesus Christ we can do all things, and not by our own strength. It is sometimes Hard to let go of something we have held on too for so, so long. They say that when someone looses a Limb Like a Arm or a Leg that the person has what that call “Ghost Pain” they still feel Pain and they feel that the Limb is still there, it takes them a long time for the Brain to understand that the Limb is Gone!. So Man Kind is like that when it comes to “Sin” & “Sinning” our Minds and our Bodies are so use to it, that when it No longer does it we have that “Ghost Pain” or we are Like that “Chicken”. Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? But Saints of God we are now dead to sin and must stay that way, in the Blood and spirit of Jesus. Something that is dead no longer See’s it no longer feels It is in every way Dead!, so then we are Dead to Sin but alive in the Holy Ghost, Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. We have been born again, with a new mind, a new spirit a new way of Thinking, a new way of Talking, a new way of Walking, a way and a life that our Lord Jesus has laid out for us. We must put off the old man in all his ways, we must leave him down in the water. Never to rise again, for Jesus Christ Died so that we may be able by him to have a “True Life” a life in the Light of his Love and his word. Is it not wonderful that when you read the word of God that you feel that “Anointing” Down in your Soul, or when you get down on your knees and pray that you Feel that Touch from our Father? Like a Fire Shut -Up in your Bones. His word is a Consuming Fire that will consume . All impurities but we MUST! Let it, Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage., Jesus Christ has made us Free from all The Bondage and Yoke of Sin, we must not be as a “Chicken” trying to run around Fighting what God Has Given unto us. The Gift Of “FREEDOM” as a man once said, “Free at last, free at last thank God Almighty We are Free at Last” it is wonderful to be free after so long in the Hands and Bondage of Lucifer. Let us take the Gift and run with it, in the Race that God has set for us, in his Freedom and Love. May we run it Together all the way to the End!!!!!
